Sermon Discussion Questions – 12/11/22 – Pastor David Buegler
The angels told the shepherds that first Christmas night, “Unto YOU is born a SAVIOR, Christ the Lord.” Each of us has a PERSONAL Savior in Jesus Christ. What are ways in which we fail to open this amazing Christmas gift? How do we believe and act as though we are our own savior? How sad!!!
The Wise Men (Magi) came to Herod and said a new born KING had come. Each of us live under the reign and rule of the KING of the universe.....unless of course, we boot Him off the throne of our heart and decide that we will rule on our own. Or worse yet, we allow false teaching and gods rule. How sad!!! What does it mean to turn over every moment of our day to the NEW BORN KING?
We say in the Apostles’ Creed we believe Christ will come in glory to “JUDGE the living and the dead”. That should scare the HELL out of sinful human beings. Many humans ignore or deny the ultimate judgement of a holy God. How sad!!! Why should the appearance of a child of God before the JUDGE bring about JOY and GLADNESS rather than fear? Think about this one. This Advent lesson is not “child’s play”.
What does it mean for your daily decisions and time management and service to your neighbor to know that the LORD rules with TRUTH AND GRACE? Truth....where do you find it in the midst of this world’s lies? And Grace.....God’s underserved love played out in your daily life....what does it look like?
How can you “REPEAT THE SOUNDING JOY” in the next 20 days of 2022? In your family, among your friends......at work and school..... and to places where you, yourself cannot go?
