What is worship like at St. Paul?
We have four worship gatherings and each one is uniquely different.
Our Saturday 5:00pm worship gathering is the most informal and laid-back. The music is a blend of mostly contemporary worship songs with some traditional hymns mixed in and are frequently performed acoustically. The sermon is the same as other services. We typically wrap up in 45 minutes. Still a great opportunity to meet people but without the business of Sunday morning.
Our Sunday 8:15am and 9:45am traditional gatherings use historic orders of worship that Christians have used for centuries…some as far back as the 1st century! They are beautiful and meaningful and may even bring back some memories if you grew up in a church that had traditional worship. The music is led by an organ and we sing historic songs from our Lutheran hymnal. So whether you are an early riser or enjoy easing into your Sunday, there is a time that’s just right for you.
Our Sunday 11:00am contemporary gathering uses modern Christian songs, many of which you probably sing along to as you listen to the radio. Contemporary worship is led by our praise team, consisting of vocalists, keyboard, guitars, and drums.
No matter which worship gathering you attend at St. Paul, you can expect the following things to be part of worship:
Singing songs of praise together to our God
Hearing 2-3 Scripture passages read from the Bible
Children’s Message; a 5-minute message to the children (pastors call them up to the altar during the service)
A 20-25 minute sermon from one of our pastors based on a Scripture passage
A time of prayer for the needs of our church, community, nation, and world
Receiving the body and blood of Jesus in the Lord’s Supper (offered on the 1st, 3rd, and 5th {if applicable} weekends of the month)
What should I wear?
Don’t stress out about what to wear when coming to worship at St. Paul. Our members dress in all different attire - from a suit or dress to jeans and a nice shirt. Wear what you’re comfortable wearing!
On Sunday mornings, what else is offered besides the worship gatherings?
Fellowship time is at 9:15am in our cafeteria. Enjoy a coffee and a doughnut while getting to know someone new. It is a low-pressure opportunity for conversation and fellowship!
But don’t stay in the cafeteria too long because from 9:45am - 10:45am we have our Discipleship Hour with Christian education classes for all ages. We offer classes for children ages 3 years old (and potty-trained) through high school. We also have several different classes for adults.
